The client commissioned a new arbor to be built for this beautiful Wisteria vine. A fun challenge from the start was that the new arbor needed to be built around the old arbor, which was aged and near collapse.
This new arbor, made of solid Alaskan Yellow Cedar, was designed, fabricated and installed in collaboration with Luc Revel at Hewn Smith. We shaped, sanded and prepped off-site at the studio. The footings were set a few days before installation and it went up smoothly.
The whole process was fun and aromatic!
This piece will grey naturally over the years, weaving well with the earthen tones of the fir, cedar and maple surrounding it.
